Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Item number 310644765015

There is about three of these check for sale. They look very dubious to me.Could someone please say if they are genuine or fantasy checks.

They are certainly different from the regular fakes that we all know.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

This is an impression in soft metal pewter (lead alloy)
When dies are made for stamping they have to test them by
stamping them in soft metal to make sure the impression is correct
the brass insert in the centre covers a hole this is were another section
will be placed, probable with the name of the person who the award is
made to, the finished product will be in silver or other metal.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Many thanks for the info'

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

These are definitely fantasy pieces. There was a load of them all of the same shape and general style doing the rounds about 5 to 7 years ago. Some were even based on impressions of old British and forigen coins but with mine names around the edge. There were at least two reporting to be from a Bryn Mine.

This latest one is different from the rest based on its central brass insert. Other than that its very similar in both shape, size and method of production.

All the best

Mark Smith

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

I think item 390576636057 is definitley a FAKE. It is now for sale again by the person who probably bought it from the master faker.
There is a bid on it,and the bidder has had four bid retractions in the last six months. We will wait and see.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Pit check token number 251259301911
a cumberland token sold as a pit check
No number NoT worth it … IT HAS A HOLE IN IT ????

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

I bought 2 pit checks of a guy in Telford on ebay
after leaving positive Feedback I then got mail from
3 members of mining-memorabilia.co.uk to say the
checks are fake and to look in the left column of this site.
what is the left column of what.
It also said that the Telford seller has had some envelopes
made to make them look more authentic , what does this
mean.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Just click on the item at the top of this page,"NMMA PICTURE GALLERY".
ON HERE YOU WILL FIND OVER 100 FAKE AND FANTASY CHECKS ALMOST ALL MADE BY ONE MAN WITH SEVERAL ID'S.
Some of his ID's are,----- dovehole, 6373janice, errwood, pitlamps, madslatelane, snipepit, wba66123, and slate_lane, and maybe more.
If you have bought any checks from any of the above ID's you have been cheated.

We have every intention of letting as many people know about what they are wasting their money on.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Are you really serious about this,,,, the IDs have been going for
7 years or more and have 100% Feedback.
The Gallery has no names on the people involved regarding the pictures
The pit checks I bought from the guy in
Telford are not there, is not this one group of dealers trying to outdo another group.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

The checks you supposedly bought are not on there because you've got them!!!!!

All the ID's on the previous message are not a group. It is one man.

The master cheater and FAKER.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Is this Pelsall check real or fake?

Item number:
380636506398
It looks too new to be true.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Looks like cast Zinc alloy, you can see the flashing in the holes and
pit marks, from casting on the edge----- -Dodgy

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Both the letter "C"s look like "O"s, so much so that the seller beleives they are and has spelt them as such.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????

Amongst the latest FAKES to hit ebay is a pair of JOKERS named as rare Lofthouse checks. 161021851330
These are shabily made and look exactly what they are.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH. Anyone who buys these and the others are idiots who have money to burn.

Re: Real or Fake ??????????????????????????
