THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

This weekend Sat 10th and Sunday 11th of Sept 11 is the Heritage weekend at Pleasley Colliery from 10.00 am both days.
Go and see the newly refurbished headstocks and winding houses set amidst the pleasant park surroundings. Plenty of free parking. Pleasley Brass Band there and a Flypast by a SPITFIRE!!!!!
Near Mansfield Notts NG19 7PH. M1 Junction 29.

Little Lamp Meet on the Saturday there. Plenty of lamps to look at, handle. sell, buy, get advice and spares and talk to fellow enthusiasts. Miners Lamp Society Personnel there to give advice and help.

I am there on Saturday to talk checks, lamps and badges. Just ask around and you will find me. Willing to buy/sell and talk about badges, checks, lamps, singles or collections.

SEE YOU THERE DON'T BE SQUARE.

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

The Miners Lamp Society was formed by two of the most knowledgeable people in the UK, on Mining Lamps, and another member who is fast becoming as knowledgeable. They also have noteable collections between them and buy and sell lamps in the course of their collecting. They have sourced or are making many lamp spares including the most demanded items such as badges, glasses, gauzes and burner assemblies. A one stop shop for the spares for getting your lamps refurbished. Many other collectors and museums and the like have joined the membership to further the knowledge and preservation of this unique piece of mining heritage.
They have a regular newsletter, booklets on various makers of lamps and two meetings a year at Pleasley. where they are this weekend. I will be there also as a collector and a member to buy, sell and discuss, but my interest includes miners badges and checka as well as lamps. You can identify me as I will be wearing a gold name badge with a red and black Prince of Wales enamel miners badge attached and will be walking round the various tables of lamp sellers and other various displays of mining interest.
SEE YOU ALL THERE, AND IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING OF MINING INTEREST TO SELL, BRING IT WITH YOU. TURN YOUR STASH INTO CASH.

ANYONE CAN JOIN, ASK AT THE MEET OR SEARCH ON GOOGLE. IT IS NOT A SECRET SOCIETY AND WE ARE ALL JUST ORDINARY BLOKES COLLECTING MINING MEMORABILIA. There are many collectors who will bid for your unwanted items, so a fair price will evolve from asking several different people for bids. There is no collusion because we all compete with each other for items we want.
Take no notice of the jealous fraudsters and fakers who want to discredit this fine organisation.

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

Seeing that you have restricted the public from showing
pictures on this forum.

Here is a Question for you.
We are talking about Baxendale miners Lamps Manchester.
What is the address of the office and showroom for
this company in the 1910-20s in Manchester.

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

Firstly Mulliner I don't control or own this site. Mark Smith does. If there is a problem with posting pics contact Mark.
Secondly Mulliner you are just a faker thief nobody who knows very little, other than what you copy or steal. The top expert in the UK on Protector, Naylor and Baxendale (to name a few) is Mr Dawson and he constantly doing more research. He is even in discussions with Baxendale descendants to further enhance the picture. So ask Mr Dawson your question - except he wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire, as through one of your alias's wba 123 something, you have just sold him a fake Baxendale check, and he is not happy!!!

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

Things are going very well for some collectors, but others are just scratching a living.

oscar-rv is into pork scratchings now to make a bob or two 150658609290

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

Well phrased NO BUT. I had to laugh at that one!!
What's oscar rv doing selling tidgy bags of gnasher knockers. It's a rum do. But better not say that, he'll be selling minitures of rum next!!

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

Maurice Dawson, one of the UK's leading experts on British Oil Safety mining lamps, especially Protector, Teale, Baxendale and Naylor, and one of the founders of the Miners Lamp Society, will not be at tommorrows Meet at Pleasley. He has been rushed to hospital today and has to have a heart pacemaker fitted urgently.
We all hope he has a speedy recovery and is back researching lamps before too long.

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

I hope it all goes well for him.

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

Remember Folks with Maurice out of it, all those lamps with
burners missing and no glass, you will be waiting a long time
for parts, so it is not worth it betting on lamps on the auction site that have parts missing.

Re: THIS WEEKEND 10TH/11TH LAMP MEET AT PLEASLEY

You say collectors ar restricted to getting replacement parts or work done on old lamps
Well I disagree with you I have contacts up here in county Durham
Who are capable of carrying out restoration
Work on old pit lamps on order to fetch them
BACK to there former glory . So I suggest you do as I did
And get out there and find another resource
Instead of scare mongering remember were theres a meens theres a way
