I filed my tax return but will be unable to make timely payment by April 15 as a result of unforseen complications. Go to www.irs.gov to sign up for an installment agreement to pay your 2007 tax bill. They've pretty much automated this option.

You can also complete and mail in a Form 9465 to enter into an installment payment plan with the IRS.

Each state has different rules about paying late. You can probably find info at your state's website.
