How do you feel about card games for language classes?

They are very good tools for speaking, so I don't mind if they seem inefficient.

They are good tools for speaking, but the students don't learn enough material with them, so I don't often use them.

I prefer other to use material (role play, dialogues, tape, drama, written pair work, etc.)

I don't think card & board games are good tools for speaking practice.
