Has anyone ever used Anthracite coal? I am thinking about trying a small bed in hopes that it will last from going to sleep to waking in the morning. Getting up to a cold cabin is not always fun.

Don't even try it. Without fire bricks, you will melt a hole in the bottom.
This happened in a friend's shop stove.

Have found some home fire prest logs. About $1.50 ea. you can get them from Fred Meyer here in the PNW. I have found them a lot cheaper here in a harware store though. They come in 4 packs. I get 12 hours out of a single log! They are awesome!
