stove fuel consumption

I wonder if anyone knows how much wood fuel (assume an average hardwood) the Sardine would need in order to produce 15,000 BTU (since that's the model I have my eye on). At present I use a small diesel heater, and since I live on the boat here in Vancouver, BC, where diesel has become expensive, I'm thinking of a Sardine model as an alternative. Please advise! Thanks.

Re: stove fuel consumption

G,

This is a really rough rule of thumb and based on my land based daytime office use of a COD in 8 x 16 structure......we use about a 5 gallon bucket of small wood chunks every 2-3 days. If you have a place on land to build a chicken wire wood silo (news page of website)the prospect of heating with wood full time gets to be a reasonable boat option.
