Re: early 1940's

I lived in Whitby Road, Ruislip Manor (born there in 1941) several light years ago! I went to Lady Bankes as did my brothers and sister before me. Would love to hear from you with any memories of those distant years. Do you recall the Rivoli and Astoria cinemas, Ruislip Lido, Mad Bess Woods,Conker Trees at Eastcote Park, Bessingby Playing fields before it was transformed from a war-time lorry park, being given tins of Australian sweets and fruit cake on Anzac Day? Kind regards Tony Sidnell

Hi

I remember all thuse places but I am 6 years older than you/. In Whitby Road I knew a Brian King, Fred Kirkby and Joy Saunders. The last mentioned gave me my first kiss! The 'rec' was only used as a lorry park in the run-up to D-Day. I lived at 16 Lyn mouth Drive
