WET Hampton Roads Sailboard Classic

Saturday Oct 20 ; Light Air brought out Big Sails, Little guys on 10.7's but the big guns on 11.8 and 12.5. Kashy was quite dominating on his *160 and 11.8 while Bernau and Rananfur ( back from the Olympic Trials) battled it out for 2nd, (Alan on the F2FX5 North 12.5 and Eric on Devil and NP 10.7) Colin Pitts finally got off his long board and raced formula on *160 NP11.6 joined the mix in one race getting a 2nd. Winds were light for the first 3 races, but only race 2 had competitors left standing waiting for it to fill in. By Race 4 the wind had piped up to 15+ and Kashy and Bernau were starting to feel the effect. Bernau won this race with Eric in 2nd. Kashy went in and swithched to 10.7 and smaller fin and came back to dominate the final race ( with the wind gusting to 20) of the day with Eric in 2nd and Alan in 3rd.

Stanings going into Day 2
Kashy - 4pts
Bernau - 9
Rananfur - 10
Colin Pitts - 23
Tom Caswell - 23
Chad Perkins - 33
yuji hiratska - 39

In the Longboards,

John Contos kept up with his usual domination until the breeze piped up and Farah Hall (back from her battle at the Olympic Trials) smoked the fleet in final 2 races of the day.

In womens; Fan Pat on her new NP V8 7.5 Won every Race she sailed, with Marcy Kennedy (No relation to JFK?) in 2nd

In Novice; Bruce Powers, our leader of our learn to windsurf events joined us for his first regatta and leads the way with 3 bullets

More racing today,

PS it was sunny and warm with more of that today, although the wind looks like it will be lighter.
