Rapid Communication at Events Using Cavalry

I wonder why more mounted re-enactors don't ever consider developing an understanding of visual signal communication techniques that they might be universally employed even though they may not necessarily have a role in every scenario during a weekend campaign.

In the Pacific North-West, Kevin Saville is perhaps the best man to seek out for such instruction. Once training is administered you'll be able to boost being the eyes, ears and tongue of the army.

Tacticals will never be the same if you are slated for attendance. It won't be long before the other side seeks such knowledge either I can assure you.

Tnx for allowing this post.

Re: Rapid Communication at Events Using Cavalry

The same can be said of bugle signals as well Walt, and even moreso. In cavalry operations however, unless acting singly as a scout, the cavalryman is part of a force of cavalry, exactly like an infantryman, only mounted. He is not able to act on his own, he is under the command of his officers. This would be, in my opinion a serious detriment to passing on information from signal corps. However, officers SHOULD know both bugle calls for all troups as well as signals.

Yes, I know Kevin very well, he is an excellent reenactor and does many impressions very well.

Thanks for using our forum and for the good reference page.
