Training on March 15th

Training went well. We had 18 riders and had to work with two squads due to lack of room and our outside arena area too muddy. We had 3 new horses also and all three took the gunfire in the arena like they had been doing it for years!

After morning drill, which was so dusty that we had to have the ground crew water the arena, we broke for lunch and worked on written safety tests. In the afternoon we did some sabre attack, shooting targets and jumping by twos and threes.

Most of the horses slated to be involved in the Equine Expo were there and did very well.

Next mounted training will be held at Willamette Mission State Park (exit 263 off I-5) on April 5th. The arena is just not large enough to work together and at speed with so many involved. Please, if you plan to attend the training on April 5th do not bring kids or pets, expecting to trail ride. This will get very boring for them and tends to break everyone's concentration.
