Re: Dotto checks

Just look at item 13 on members articles on this site and there is quite a comprehensive account of these checks, including the matrix to read them

Re: Dotto checks

I have read the matrix and I am as wise as ever.Try as I may I cannot fathom the system out.I can understand the different levels of the numbers, but can't work out how you can find say,a 3 or 33.

Further to my first question, are the holes on the check numbered in the first message in the correct place???????????????????????????

Re: Dotto checks

Regarding reading the dotto matrix,It looks as though I am not on my own.

Re: Dotto checks

The dotto check on e-bay at the moment, 1 hour-ish to run as of 7.45 8-7-13 is fake.

The lines of holes should be evenly spaced and parallel. Also there is only a number one that could be derived from any of the lines. The rest are not on the matrix code.

Someone has just drilled a series of holes on a standard blank check, other than having a number stamped on it.

There are four rows of holes and there should only be three. The top row for 7 should be one central and one at each side two spaces out. The second row down should be NO central hole and one at each side three spaces out. The third row down should be ONE CENTRAL hole and one at each side three spaces out = 716

The matrix is easy to read once you get the hang of it.

Someone warn the buyer it is a load of old rubbish.

I have looked again and there is a number 1111 crossed out. It is possible that this could be from a ditto pit incorrectly numbered, because the hole matrix is 2111 - this would be four rows, no central holes and -

The first row is no central hole and one at each side two spaces out = 2
The second, third and fourth rows down would be NO central hole and one at each side three spaces out = 1 at each row.
= 2111
