Re: Betteshanger Colliery Badge

Hi Phil

Have you seen this early KMWA membership badge before?

There must have been more issued from other branches of the same association from within the Kent Coalfield. Has anyone seen any others?

All the best

Mark

Re: Betteshanger Colliery Badge

Hi Phil

The one above was found byy a metal detectorist in Kent. The later issued badge, shown below, is liffted of images from the web. It measures 30mm across the flats and has a lapel button whole fastener on it reverse side. Its probably from the 1920s/30s.

It's interesting how the first of the above illustrated badges is issued in the name of the Kent MINEWORKERS Association while the second, later one, is in the name of the Kent MINERS Association. It this the same association whose name has changed over time or a totally different union? Any ideas?

All the best

Mark

Re: betteshanger colliery
