Temporary Job Assignment

I know that there have been several questions on this topic - I moved from California (where I rented an apartment)to do my one year fellowship in Virginia and I am going to move to Texas for a job after completion. Will my fellowship in Virginia be a temporary job assignment and will the lodging expenses be deductible in my situation? I do not own a home anywhere.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Re: Temporary Job Assignment

I'm not sure you qualify, since it sounds like you are living in California, moving to VA, and then ending up in TX.

To qualify to treat the job in VA as a temporary job assignment, you would need to show intent to return to CA.
