Energy Credit 2008

Last year (2008) we changed windows, and bought new energy efficient appliances for our kitchen. Would we be able to claim "energy credit" on a tax return, or was in only applicable for 2006 and 2007?

Re: Energy Credit 2008

Get this. There was a $500 tax credit for residential energy efficient improvements to your home for 2006 and 2007.

No credit for 2008.

And then the credit returns for 2009 and 2010 - only they tripled the tax break to up to $1500.

I've had other clients who were unlucky enough to decide to make energy efficient improvements to their home during the past year.

Is there an income limit where this starts to phase out?

I don't believe there is an income phase-out for this tax credit. Plus, this credit was not limited by the AMT in 2006 & 2007, and I think that's the case for 2008 & 2009.
