What is the advantage to take it from my paycheck, after taxes?

Your disability insurance would be able to be deducted from your paycheck as a pre-tax benefit. You should check to make sure that the practice has a Section 125 plan setup to do that. Your life insurance would be an after tax deduction, but can be paid through your paycheck.

I will be joining a solo practitioner in July. Is there anything (car payments, disability, life insurance) that can be assumed by the co-operation and be deducted from my pay check (tax/fica benefit to me).
