Re: Board Exam - tax deductible?

The cost of a board exam falls under the category of education, examinations, and licenses. To be deductible, passing the examination can't qualify you for a new trade or business. Instead, passing the exam can only enhance your skills in your current trade or business. Generally, becoming board certified in a specialty is seen as enhancing your skills as a physician, and therefore, should be deductible.
