I think what you are referring to is the withholding tax that Maryland non-residents pay when selling real estate located in Maryland.

You get credit for that payment by filing a non-resident Maryland income tax return.

If too much tax was withheld (and it probably was) you may also file a Form MW506R with ther Comptroller of Maryland. YOu will STILL have to file a Maryland nonresident income tax return at the end of the year.
