auto expenses

i understand that the irs allows deductions from one workplace to the next, however, why is on call travel from home to multiple hospitals not deductible?

thanks for your help in this matter.

Re: auto expenses

Driving from your home to the hospital when you're on call isn't deductible since you're commuting from your home to a regular place of business. Plus, the government seems to think that your going home is for your benefit. When you're on call, you have the option of staying at the hospital the whole time. Pretty harsh, huh?
