COBRA and self-employed health insurance

I am currently self-employed but getting health insurance coverage under COBRA. Can I deduct these expenses?

Re: COBRA and self-employed health insurance

I would say that the premiums you pay would be 100% deductible as an adjustment to income on line 29 of the Form 1040. The rules state that you wouldn't be entitled to a deduction for any month that you are eligible to participate in a subsidized health plan maintained by your employer.

This is what I thought, but reading Publication 535, section 7, it says: "The insurance plan must be established under your business."

Do you think a COBRA plan from a former employer falls within that definition?
