CAN YOU USE YOUR LAST PAYCHECK AS A W-4 FORM.

Re: w-4 form

I think you're asking if your can use your final paycheck as your W-2 form for completing your tax return.

I generally wouldn't recommend doing so, since you may have some pre-tax items go through your salary, which will reduce your taxable earnings. So the numbers that on your final pay stub may not correlate with the numbers on your W-2 form.

If your employer won't be issuing W-2s this year for whatever reason (maybe they went out of business), then using your final pay stub is probably your only option. There is a tax form (4852) to attach to your tax return if you'll be using your final pay stub, instead of a W-2 form, to prepare your taxes.
