Foreign Ladybird threat to flora and fauna

Dear sir or madam,

Any chance of posting this on your website?

WILDLIFE ALERT Help to track down and eradicate this pest:- Harlequin Ladybirds Harmonia axyridis. First seen in Britain Sept. 2004.

OUR NATIVE SPECIES OF LADY BIRD could become EXTINCT because the Harlequin Ladybird eats more and breeds faster. Our native species of ladybird is beneficial to and in balance with the flora and fauna of Britain. The Harlequin Ladybird is not.
The Harlequin eats aphids, butterfly eggs and caterpillars. They severely damage soft fruit as they suck out the juice for the sugar. They gather in large numbers in houses in autumn and winter. They bite people, leaving a small itchy lump.
Identification is difficult as colours vary and there are 40 species of native ladybirds.
Excellent photos of Harlequin Ladybird at www.harlequin-survey.org

Michael Majerus is the expert in Britain and has requested that anyone finding a Harlequin Ladybird to send it to him at: Michael Majerus

Thanks J.Banks.
