No, but it's worth a try, why, have you done it? It sounds pretty cool, I've tried networking my old LC II (w/ system 7.5) on my PB G4 17", (OS X 10.4). It didn't work so well, but I at least was able to AppleShare off it! And yes, PB 100's are sweet machines! Where did you get it? |

No Nick, I haven't had any success yet but there is a good tutorial on System 6 Heaven for connection to OS X 10.1. You need to download a few bits for the 100 and Sharepoints for the Mac running OSX. I'll keep trying... As for where, the LEMswap list for the UK is brilliant for vintage kit. I also just won another 100 from Germany on eBay for just under twenty quid. |

Wow, cool. I've always thought about networking my Performa, to my PB 17", after you posted this message. What I like to do, is push my Mac to the limit, (I tried getting OS 8.5 on my SE!) I got the sad mac. Anyway, why are asking this? Are you planning on doing it? Good Luck if you are!

It's always fun to push things past published limits, but you can also waste a lot of time chasing things that are provably impossible. Trying to run 8.x on an SE is one of those things. An SE has 4MB max ram, which is much much less than 8.x needs. Indeed, it's quite a feat to get 8.1 on an SE/30 (a much more capable machine). For details on the latter, see home.earthlink.net/~gamba2 and click on the link for 8.x on 68k Macs. |

Well I managed to get the G4 to at least 'see' the PB 100. Sharepoints is a smart little fella of a program...Now the hard part... maybe transferring some files (shock horror). It does beg the question 'what for?' but it might be nice to store my System 6 data on something other than floppies or a rapidly knackering HDD. |
