Help setting up DaynaPort Scsi Link and Mac Classic II on ethernet

I acquired a Mac Classic II in great condition. 10Mb of memory.
System 7.5.3.
I wanted to be able to hook it into my local network so after some research I found a DaynaPort Scsci Link3 on ebay and bought it.
Now I've been doing networking for YEARS (read that as I'm OLD), but I'm lost trying to get this Mac on the network. I have not idea what the difference between Phase 1 and 2, Zones and other Mac buzz words.
I have it hooked up... the link light flashes, but I cannot tell if it sees anything.
Anyone with some real knowledge of how to hook this up into a predominatly PC network would be a great help.

TIA

Kerry

Re: Help setting up DaynaPort Scsi Link and Mac Classic II on ethernet

Are you running OT or classic networking? OT makes it much easier to configure, and it supports DHCP, but I don't know for certain that your scsi adapter will play nice with it (I believe it will, but I just don't know).

If you're using classic (with MacTCP), be aware that it does not support DHCP. That alone may prevent you from getting things up and running. You can kludge things if you set your router to give DHCP a small range of addresses, and then configure your adapter to use an address outside of that range. But since your ClassicII should support OT, I'd recommend that as a first choice because of its ease of use.
