Well, you can see what I have if you click the little computer next to my name, but here they are anyways. Macintosh Quadra 650 PowerBook Duo 230 I also had a Motorola StarMax 4000, but I got rid of it when I got my iMac G5 (yes, these are PowerPCs, but I had to mention te StarMax since it basically IS considered classic even though it's not 68K )

I've got a few older Macs, all of which cost me next to nothing: PowerMac 9600/200 w/ Crecendo G3/400 upgrade card: My main computer and general-purpose workhorse machine Macintosh IIfx: Loaded with 2 Radius Two-page display cards and 21" greyscale displays, as well as one unidentified 823x624 24 bit card - I use it for running PageMaker with the massive monitors and doing a bit of basic PhotoShop work on the 24 bit display. Also runs A/UX. Macintosh IIci: Not in use at the moment but thinking of setting it up as a web server, or putting BSD Unix on it. Macintosh LC III: Used for playing old games on - I like to play games on the system that they were meant for in the first place. Currently playing my way through Monkey Island 2. Macintosh SE/30: In storage at the moment - smells funny when I switch it on but runs fine. I'm going to have it apart and fix it up before I use it. Macintosh Classic II: Kept for mainly sentimental reasons - it was my first Mac, salvaged out of a dumpster 4 years ago - I used it for several years for word processing and a few games. Macintosh SE: I was given it but haven't quite decided what to do with it. It has 1 low-density drive and a 40mb hard disk. I also own a deceased IIsi that I haven't got around to binning yet (no, it doesn't have a ROM SIMM). I just keep it to go "ooooh" about that case every so often )

Hey guys, nice to see so many classic MacManiacs. What is it that draws us too these old rocks anyway, for me its the hunt. Finding that dusty old machine in soem dark corner somewhere is the initial rush. Then you get it for some steal of a deal cuz the person doesnt think its worth a dime cuz they dont even know what their brand new 2.8 gig P4 is cabable of and will buy what ever comes out new next year. The old goes the way of the dinosaur. Dancing the dance of the advance of technology. Were the old die and the new are never new long enough to even get old! Ah back to the point, enough philosophy. I also like seeing what new software I'm getting in the old beast. Like I said its all about the hunt. Once I have detirmined what I what to salvage I usually wipe 'er down and reinstall. Fill it full of the gems and find a corner with a plug to call its home. Its the challenge of getting it just the way i want it, once I've takin a particular machine as far as I can I name it and move on. Usually I specalize each machine... gaming machine, word processors, art, music, whatever. I have these beauties: 2 x Classic I (one with 2 mbs ram, the other with 4) 1 Classic II (4mbs ram) 1 LC III (8mbs ram) 1 LC 575 (32mbs I think) 1 5260/100 (32mbs ram, onboard ethernet) 1 8100/100 (128 mbs ram, video card) 1 PowerBook G3 (64mbs ram, Ethernet, built in modem, >>svideo) 1 iMAC (working but power analog board is sketchy) Anyway , love live the MAC

Mac Plus (4mb RAM), this is the first (and original) Mac I purchased for about $1200 back in the day (late eighties??). I also have: SE/30 SE Classic I have the most fun with the Plus though. Wish I held onto my IIcx and am kicking myself for giving away my Radius FPD. What seems like junk one day turns out to be cool stuff later.

Hi dedicated classic mac followers, My classic macs include: Powerbook 170 (8MB RAM, 120MB HDD) Powerbook 180 (14MB RAM, 120MB HDD) Powerbook 180c (12MB RAM, 320MB HDD) My favourite is the 170. It has two small bolts sticking out the back from an earlier repair job, so I've named the hard disk icon on the desktop 'Frankenstein'! |

Sfinro, you mention having both an SE and SE/30, but that the SE/30 makes a funny smell when switched on. Since the SE/30 is far more fun and usable than a poky old SE, why not swap the motherboard with the good working SE? Then you'd have an SE/30 in great working order! |

Hi: I have several PB2400c's including 2 basic 180Mhz Comets, the Japan-only 240 Mhz Mighty Cat, a standard Comet upgraded to the 320 G3 processor and the glowing keyboard (very cool). In addition, I have 2 PB Duos 230 with docks, and a PB 145. The classic Mac I would LOVE to find is an Outbound Laptop. That was a computer I really wanted when I worked in the evil Wintel world. (The other computer I really wanted while still in the Wintel world was the PB2400c. Could you guess?) If anyone knows where I could find an Outbound Laptop or any other Apple clones, I would really appreciate it. Thanks. |

That's a great start. Btw, the 400K floppy drives have a common failure mode -- the lube turns to glue over time, so it won't load properly, or eject will be weak, etc. That may be your problem, too. Easy to fix. Take the drive out of the mac, clean off the goo (WD40 is a good solvent for this; use a lint-free cloth). Then use some light grease to relube. Be careful not to get any on the heads). |

Lol everyones like,"I have this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and i used to have this" All i got is a mac classic that I got from my 4th grade teacher cuz it had some cool games on it. Its not even working right now and I'm afraid it might be dead beyond repair. I'm no Mac tekkie though and its probably just some dumb error. (See "My mac is acting weird") If it is indeed dead , which it probably isnt, i wanna convert the whole thing into a toaster that would use the floppy drive for the slot. I'd have to make it bigger 'course but still that would be sweet.
