See Page 44 of the Freight Operations Manual.
What is the Origin & Destination Cities.
Example: Houston, TX to Little Rock, AR.
1. get the miles. Go to truckstop.com or in any miles software. Houston, TX to Little Rock, AR is 444.3 miles.
2. Find out if there are Flatbeds available at origin trying to go to destination.
3. Call the carrier and tell them you have a customer who is needs to get freight to AR and find out what their rate is on that lane. Do this with about 2 or 3 carriers. Try to call those with 800 numbers in order to save money.
4. You will have to add approx 15% to the total that the carrier gives you. Then call your customer and give them the rate. Remember you have to add approx 15%, so that you will make a profit.
5> Do the above on each lane until you have rates for each city your customer needs.
