Everyone gets a 7 and me and Steve got a 6 what the **** did we do different?

I don't think its funny, I think it is absolute bull****.

Re: ****** off with ratings

Didn't know whether I dared comment, but I'm being brave...

I know how you feel - I've felt the same (just not sworn about it... ...you know me...)

I know you said you didn't find it funny, but the ratings are not meant to be deadly serious. There've been a couple of times where I thought I should have got better ratings, but I've always used the frustration positively by trying to play better next game.

The alternative, if people are getting angry about ratings, is to forget doing the ratings and just do the game stats.

Re: ****** off with ratings

I agree with Chris on this one...it's complete b.o.l.l.o.c.k.s! I really can't see the justification behind these ratings.

I'm starting to think it's not worth the hassle anymore.

All I want to do is play...anyone know any teams who are looking for players?

Re: ****** off with ratings

Firstly let us address the ratings. They are meant to be taken not to seriously. Not that I give high or low marks just to **** people off or to get a laugh. I dont spend that much time thinking about them, maybe I should spend more? but quite honestly I did not think that players toke that much notice of them.

All I can say is that they are not even on the radar when it comes to team selection the following week etc.

The two 6 marks. it was a game in which not much happened but everyone did there part and there were no **** ups.

Steve
We played a midfield 4 in which Carl scored, Tom won every header and the old bloke put himself about a bit. You played out of posistion on the right on a small (smallest) pitch. Just did not think it happened as much for you as the others.

Chris
Difficult one. I guess I felt that jamer always looked more likely to score. Quite frankly I am a bit surprised I am not sure how many games you have been to this season but have started most of them and scored goals. I have but a lot of faith in you and your ability and you have played the big games over the last few seasons. I feel that it is going a little over board on the strength of one player rating.

Steve
I do feel that more than ever you and Delves have suffered this season more than most due to the large squad and your individual attendances. Manager knows what it is like when you just want to play. I cant give you the answers to when you will play - Sorry!!

I guess the final thing to say is that if the player ratings are going to be that much of an issue, we can just knock them on the head. I hope that my reply is if anything honest and I have made some points without ******* more people off.

Re: ****** off with ratings

I think we need a neutral point of view about the ratings... Should we carry on doing ratings or not?

Any fans got any comments?

What about Jim Nutting, with his 6.8 average or whatever it is?

Re: ****** off with ratings

Gents,

I do not want to fallout with anyone over this and neither do I want what is supposed to be a bit of fun ruined because I got my knickers in a twist.

My rant was because as Bricky said no-one really did anything wrong and yet me and Steve were highlighted as not doing as well as everyone else.

Please do not knock this on the head as me and Delves take great pleasure in debating the ratings every Monday whilst busy at work!

Re: ****** off with ratings

Ok ok my initial anger has subsided somewhat and I now feel able to post a reply without wanting to throw my P.C out of the office window.

Bricky
Thanks for honest response and I can see where ya coming from; altho feel it still a little harsh that someone who plays the last 15 can get the same rating. Think I only lost possession twice (excluding some **** throw ins) and played alright. But I'm willing to accept my 6 as something to build on!

Anyway, onto the rating system;
I did ratings for a programme at Cressage for two seasons whilst I was injured and watching the games. Apart from one or two altercations with a slightly dense individual the ratings were universally accepted.
I would recommend that if ratings are going to be made public then there does need to be some time thinking about scores allocated. (It was probably the most time consuming part of the programme for me to do). You can't assume that all players will not take them seriously.

Maybe they would be more acceptable if an average mark was taken form a poll by the players after the game...altho this may lead to more anomosity.
Maybe people watching the game might be a better option.

Finally.
Please don't rate my performance in training tonight - any increased lack of coordination may be due to a little alcohol intake that may accidently occur whilst watching the match this afternoon!!

Re: ****** off with ratings

I find it very heartening that such an awkward issue can be resolved thanks to a free message board service that requires very little maintenance...
