Change in Race Times
As some of you observant types have noticed this afternoon, I have changed the race times. The 18 hour race is now a 24 hour race and the 9 hour race is a 12 hour race. This was done for a number of reasons. First, 9 and 18 hour races are not "traditional" lengths. In an effort to standardize race lengths, I chose to change to 12 and 24. There are also a number of teams in the 24 hour race who are competing for points in the Checkpoint Tracker National Points Series and the USARA National Ranking System. The 24 hour race affords them the opportunity to receive more points and therefore makes the race more important on a national level. After spending considerable time on the course, prerunning all sections, I believe that the winning times will be around 9 hours for the 12 hour race and 18 hours for the 24 hour race. It is important to stress, I have not increased the mileages of the races, only the cutoff times for the races. Start times for both the 12 and 24 hour race are unaffected and remain the same.
