2007 Thunder Rolls Adventure Race Announcement
The Thunder Rolls Adventure Race MARK YOUR CALENDARS TODAY! High Profile Adventure Racing, L.L.C. is excited to announce the 5th annual, Thunder Rolls Adventure Race, scheduled for September 8-9, 2007. New for 2007, two races will run simultaneously. A 9 hour, 40 mile and an 18 hour, 80 mile race. Both will be traditional style and unsupported. The courses will follow the trails, waterways, and migration routes of Chief Black Hawk and the Sauk and Fox Indians of the 1800’s. “By running both a 9 and 18 hour race, the Thunder Rolls Adventure Race will be attractive to new teams looking to do their first expedition style race and intermediate and experienced teams looking for a real challenge. The cool thing is that the new racers will be able to interact with and learn from the top teams in the United States.” “In addition, this years course, with the base camp located in Illinois City, Illinois will expose teams to the remote, historical and challenging countryside of the Mississippi River valley of western Illinois,” said Gerry Voelliger, Race Director. Teams of three, coed, masters (all over 40), and same gender, will paddle canoes, trail run/trek, mountain bike, orienteer, coasteer, and navigate over multiple route choices, through forest preserves, state parks, historical sites, and previously inaccessible private property. Multiple fixed rope challenges will be scattered throughout the courses. The Thunder Rolls Adventure Race will once again be a Midwest regional qualifier for the USARA National Championships.
