Adventure Camp
High Profile Adventure Racing L.L.C. is excited to present an adventure camp in Mount Carroll, Illinois at the beautiful and historic YMCA Camp Benson. The camp will give participants from beginners to advanced, the skills and certifications needed to participate and excel in adventure races and mountaineering trips. The camp will be held on Saturday, March 30 – Sunday, April 1, 2007. The focus of the camp will be on rope skills. Participants will be given instruction on safety, equipment, ropes and knots, rappelling, ascending, Tyrolean traverses, zip lines, and cable ladders. Instruction will be primarily in the field with rappels and ascents of over 100’ high and Tyrolean traverses of over 300’ long on area cliffs. A special event is planned for Sunday morning, one you don’t want to miss! The cost of the camp is only $85.00 per person. The cost includes Saturday night lodging at Camp Benson, insurance, professional instruction, rope gear (harness, helmet, carabiners, rappelling device and ascenders if needed), a donation on behalf of all participants to the camp, a Saturday night pizza party, certifications, and a $25 race voucher for the Thunder Rolls Adventure Race. Thunder Rolls Race Director, Gerry Voelliger is the primary instructor with Ron Stonitsch, Sue Stonitsch and Jamey Sanders, of Team Enviromark-Orthopaedic Specialists P.C. assisting. At the get together on Saturday night, a multi-media presentation on the 2006 Primal Quest Expedition Adventure Race will be shown with team members sharing experiences.
