Washington State AmeriCorps Housing Forum

Welcome to the AmeriCorps and VISTA Forum!  This board is a tool for AmeriCorps and VISTA members in Washington State to use in finding roommates, housing, furniture, and other resources you need during your year of service.  It can also be a great tool for building community--need a jogging partner?  looking for an outdoor volunteering opportunity?  Post it here to connect with other AmeriCorps and VISTA members.  While AmeriCorps claims no responsibility for what is said on this forum, please keep it clean, legal, and positive.  Also, sorry for the pop-ups and ads--it's the consequence of using a free hosting service!

Please note:

  • Prices and offers on boards are valid for national service members only!  Please do not contact posters unless you are a member,  recent alumnus, or soon-to-be member of AmeriCorps or VISTA.
  • To keep the board looking neat, try to post in the thread designated for your geographical area.  Feel free to use the search tool below and to the right to help you find what you are looking for.
  • If you find a posting is out of date, no longer want your post on the website, or have any problems or questions, please contact wsc@esd.wa.gov.   Thanks!

Message:   The website is www.housingconnections.org and is run by the Vancouver housing authority. You can run searches by neighborhood and price, and it says they have over 50,000 listings.

AmeriCorps and VISTA members qualify for public and subsidized housing, and usually they can get themselves on the waitlist (if there is a waitlist) as soon as they know that they are coming so that an apartment will be available by the time they get here. It looks like for most of these listings, you contact the management company directly to get on the waitlist or to get an application.
