rules

does anyone know who wrote "We will be allowing members to propose rules, and vote on them, over the next several months. After that the rules will be in place for the next one year period."

per the above, sounds like people are making up new rules to be in place for one year...i'm curious where those rules will be in effect?

i thought there were already some rules in place for formula. here is my vote for the rules:
http://www.uswindsurfing.org/usw_library/other/Sailing_rules_05_08.pdf

per the international sailing federation, the rules are in effect for a 4 year period (they can change after each olympics).

there are people in ISAF actively working on changes to the rules to make them easier and better. if people have ideas that can improve the game, i'd love to learn about this.

respectfully submitted,

Re: rules

The proposal wa smade at a meeting of racers at the US Open in Corpus Christi this year. The idea is to include slalom racing along with Fromula racing as one class. It will be a specific class, which will be designed to pull those more recreationally inclined sailors into the slalom side of racing, and let them see the merits of also using formyula gear when it is light. It will also appeal to those sailors who do not race formula because they still have to sail in 30 knots of wind, when they would rather be on a slalom board.

These will be class rules for the US, not a change of racing rules of ISAF.

Re: rules

PLease use this forum to post any comments, question or suggestions regarding this concept. We are looking for your input. The top sailors from many areas of the country signed off on this concept during the US Open. Let us hear from you.......

Re: rules

if you are talking about a new class and class rules, sounds grand. thanks for the clarification. chris radkowski raced a slalom board in the last few races of last weeks cal cup (which is a formula fleet).
