Five members of TPT attempted the 3rd (sort of) in the FFT Winter Series of events at Aboyne yesterday. In glorious sunshine (chilly wind though) they pounded the streets of Aboyne (some more slowly than others!) and enjoyed a fast stretch of Deeside tarmac. The cycle, as always, a joy compared to the hills of the Garioch and Formartine. With steady cadence, and long stretches of flat road, the pace was fast - except when the wind off the North Sea (well it felt like it) hit you on the return leg along the South Deeside road.
Steve was showing off on his new bike, peeling 5 minutes + off last year's time. Kenny and I managed 5 minutes off (between us), and it was far windier when Donald and Jake were cycling.
All in all, an enjoyable event (when you were finished). Some of us caught the sun, at least I'm sure that's why my face was bright red at the finish!
Well, well, back to running in our swimsuits again. Roll on Turriff! |
