Re: Who heard it,Then???!

I listened---thanks be to BBC4 who put it on the "listen again" list, so those of us in the US can hear it at a decent hour. :-)

I loved it. It's a nice, quiet moment with humor---some parts I laughed right out loud. Being a dog lover myself it was quite enjoyable.

What kind of doggie? I don't know, but I want one just like him. :-)

Re: Who heard it,Then???!

Just caught it at the website. :D Wonderful show. Thought the voice inflections were spot on for Jack. Great job by all the actors. Though, I will say I'm glad Bernard got his comeuppance. Nasty little boy. Well done Jack!

Several laugh out loud moments. I'm sure I'll listen again. Maybe I'll even let my dogs sit in.

Re: Who heard it,Then???!

Right, I will have another go at listening to the 'listen again' on the internet today, as the bbc site wasn't working in tht regard last time I tried.

Here's hoping

Re: Who heard it,Then???!

OK, It was working, I heard the last one!!

It was lovely, a nice romp with some lovely sweet funny moments.

However I need to settle a question once and for all.
At the end of the listen again the presenter said 'Alan Daveeees'(pronouncing), not Alan Davies.
I hear it differently all the time depending on who presents him.
Can anyone settle this one once and for all.
I'm a quarter Welsh and that part of our family are pronounced Davies not Daveees.

Thanks

Re: Re: Who heard it,Then???!

I would think the definitive answer would be how ALan pronounces it himself----and I think he may have done so on an ep of QI (maybe season 4?). Stephen asked him whether a Nobel-prize winning physicist was in the family tree and the name may have poppped up then. Barring that, I suppose the correct pronunciation would have been mentioned in the show about Alan's dad's side of the family. It's been awhile since I've seen that, but I would guess somewhere along the way Alan pronounced it as it is.

Re: Who heard it,Then???!

Does the "e" in davies make it daveeeees, whereas without an "E" it would be dave-iss.?? Dunno, I'm half welsh myself and we pronounce everybodies surname as Jones!!

Re: Who heard it,Then???!

Hi All,

Got to be quick, part 2 QI underway!!!!

Synchronicity of life amazes me. It is mentioned that the answer to the Davies question may lie in the family tree programme he did. And lo and behold today, I was looking for a DVD to record something important on and what did I find that very programme. The narrater said Davies..(is) pronounciation.

Settled??

GTG He is doing his Mexican accent!!

And what was your Lab's reaction?

Once again, a wonderful show. I especially loved the line about the dog food smelling like old wellies.

Re: Who heard it,Then???!

Hu Suzy,

Well the lesson I learnt is don't wear your dog out on a big walk before the show.
She lay by the radio cocking her ears for the first couple of barks and then promptly fell flat out asleep!!

She woke up very near the end and showed mild interest. Good thing I was listening. Another sweet show. I like the rythm and pace of it and music inserts inbetween. Of course Alan is great in it.
