Hey guys,
Remember me, Mike Mountain..captain of the Northstars ' 72 NJCAA championship hockey team; final was played in Lake Placid. In addition to playing hockey with a great bunch of guys & wininng a championship, my fondest memories are of being at the Hoot during a Friday happy hour. Wall to wall people, had to hold the $1 cardboard pitcher of Pabst or Schlitz above your head to get around..drinking purple jesus, smoking Marlboros & listening to "By-By American Pie" on the juke box , playing on the bowling machine & foosball & of course, eyeing-up the ladies. I met my girlfriend Bev from Buffalo there & we stayed together all through college. Hell, I lived across the street & was a bouncer at the Hoot..worked w/Jimmy Frank & Beef..Frank was a bouncer & I can still see him standing on a chair by the front door at closing, smashed & yelling at people to leave..I spent so much time there that once when I was walking home from class I looked over at the Hoot & it was like a magnet. It was the middle of day but I really wanted to go in & I wondered if I was an alky or something...man what great times..I hung w/the rest of the Canton hockey players..Rookie, Frenchy, Mike & Peter, Timmy Servis, Jim Johnson, Lee Paradise, Pat Bertran to name a few & of course our feerless leader & coach O'bie decked out in his long fir coat. Great to hear the tradition continues..yes sir, one of the best times of my life! Thanks for keeping it going Danny.
