CREGGAN HISTORY SOCIETY - MESSAGE BOARD

Welcome to our Message Board

This Message Board has been provided at the suggestion of one of our American web-site visitors who thought it would be a good way for long lost relatives from the Creggan and adjacent areas to make connect with each other.

It is also a useful way for people to ask questions about the history and environment of the South Armagh area, with the prospect of someone being able to provide a helpful response or to comment on any aspect of local history and society.

The content will be monitored and the Society will remove any material which is judged to be inappropriate or not in the spirit of a local history society.

So feel free to leave a message.

Monog townland within Creggan Civil Parish

My maternal grandmother emigrated from Monog, (spelled Monugg in Ellis Island records), in 1899. A small town outside of Crossmaglen. So small it does not appear on any maps I can find. It is within Creggan Civil Parish. Her name was Bridget McCoy and she was 17 years old. She sailed on the Etruria out of Liverpool and arrived in New York on Oct 22,1899.
